Tree fern Root Panel
Size: 8 x 6 x 1
Tree fern root panels are used for backgrounds, drip walls, and for mounting epiphytic plants. Orchids, bromeliads, ferns and mosses are commonly mounted onto the tree fern panels, as it forms the ideal substrate for their roots. The panels are very firm and will not rot from continuous exposure to moisture or wetness. When they are kept moist ferns and mosses could spontaneously start to grow. When the panel is broken up into smaller pieces the fragments that break off are similar in size to small toothpicks. These pieces can be added to a soil mix helping to create a better, more aerated mix. Tree fern roots are considered to be a sustainable resource from the forests of New Zealand.
