Magnolia Leaf Litter
Size: 1 gallon
Leaf litter refers to the dead leaves that make up the top layer of substrate in a vivarium. Magnolia leaves are waxy, thick, and fairly large. They break down slower than most other varieties of leaf litter and add nutrients to the soil while sustaining healthy populations of microfauna, such as isopods and springtails. The leaves can be crushed up and added to viviarium soil mixes or spread out on the vivarium floor, which helps to closely replicate the look of the natural rainforest floor. The leaves create nooks, niches, and visual barriers for the vivariums inhabitants. These leaves are collected from chemical free areas.
