This fiberglass screen acts as a barrier to keep the false bottom and substrate layers separate allowing the substrate to stay drier improving growing conditions in the vivarium as well as extending the life of the substrate. It will keep the soil mix from falling down and mixing into the false bottom area. Slits can be cut into the screen to allow plants roots access to the false bottom area if needed.
