Epipidobates Anthonyis 'Santa Isabela'
Age: 2-5 months
Epipidobates Santa Isabela Anthonyi or Phantasmal Poison Dart Frog, range from southwestern Ecuador to northwestern Peru. They are a smaller frog with most of them being just under one inch in length. S.I. Anthonyis are voracious eaters, taking down larger prey items that would be too large for similar sized dart frog species. Sexual maturity is around 6 months although some males call as early as 3 months. Males will compete for the highest elevated perches so that they may call to nearby females. The call is a melodic trill that is loud enough to be heard in neighboring rooms. Anthonyis may take up to 2 years to reach their full color potential. They are best kept in an equal sex ratio or male heavy groups. Bold and hardy, this species makes an outstanding vivarium specimen.
